Frequently Asked Questions

Concise, verifiable answers

Resignation does not normally create entitlement. An employee may claim severance where there is just cause, including unpaid wages, unpaid overtime, workplace bullying or a material change in working conditions.

Thirty days of the final dressed gross wage is used for each full year; remaining periods are prorated and the current statutory ceiling applies to the annual amount.

Severance pay claims are generally subject to a five-year limitation period running from termination of the employment contract.
